Thursdays, 12-3:30pm

January 15- March 5, 2026

Drawing skills are painting skills. Whether your style and approach is impressionistic, realistic, comic, naive, expressive – or anything else – you will grow by honing your drawing skills.

This course takes artists through the following essential skills and concepts; proportion and placement, perspective, construction, value and light effect, concentrating values, turning form, edges and texture, and composition.  Each class begins with a slide talk that illustrates the concept through different artistic movements and media, then Sarah will provide a short demo of the exercise designed to practice the skill.  Students will then spend a time drawing (or painting) with 1-1 feedback from Sarah. Each lesson builds on the previous lesson.  Students will be given free access to recorded version of Sarah’s slide talks.

Non-members: $400 (may receive a 0%, 10%, 15% or 20% discount based on the student’s membership level.)

⇒Payment plans available! ⇐

Pour & Play: Intro to Acrylic Pouring for Adults with Tammy Ryan

Saturday January 24th, 1-4pm

Discover the magic of fluid art in this beginner-friendly acrylic paint pouring workshop. In this 3-hour Saturday class, you’ll learn the essentials of acrylic paints, key tools, materials, and techniques to create stunning abstract designs.

I’ll demonstrate a dirty pour and a flip cup pour, showing step-by-step how to layer, tilt, and manipulate colors for beautiful results. Then it’s your turn! You’ll have plenty of hands-on time to experiment, explore, and create your own unique pours while I offer tips, guidance, and troubleshooting.

By the end of the class, you’ll have the skills, confidence, and creative inspiration to continue exploring acrylic pouring at home. No prior experience required — just bring your curiosity and love of color!

Mess Alert! Acrylic pouring is very messy — you will get paint on yourself and your clothes. Please wear clothes you don’t mind getting paint on. We’ll provide aprons, but a little color on your hands and clothes is part of the fun!

Non-Members: $40 + $15 Materials Fee

(may receive a 0%, 10%, 15% or 20% discount based on the student’s membership level.)

Tammy Ryan is a self-taught acrylic pouring artist with over 30 years of professional experience in color theory, visual production, and brand integrity. Before devoting herself to full-time art, Tammy worked as a print production and project management specialist, where she developed a refined understanding of how color behaves across surfaces, materials, and environments. That expertise deeply informs her approach to fluid art today.

As a teacher, Tammy believes creativity thrives in curiosity, experimentation, and play. Her classes are welcoming, hands-on, and encouraging—rooted in the idea that there is no “right” way to create. She guides students through the fundamentals of acrylic pouring —paint consistency, color blending, composition, and flow techniques —while also leaving space for personal expression and joyful discovery.

Acrylic pouring is beautifully messy, unpredictable, and freeing—and Tammy teaches in that same spirit. Students are invited to explore, make mistakes, take risks, and let the paint lead the way. Her goal is not just to teach technique, but to help others reconnect with the creative voice we all had before we learned to worry what art “should” look like.
