The Science and Practice of Color with Sarah F. Burns
6 sessions, Thursdays, Oct. 1- Nov. 5, 12-3:30pm
FREE lecture Sept. 17, 2-3:30pm!
A color bootcamp for painters of all types!
COLOR is a two-edged sword for artists – we LOVE it AND we often struggle with it!
Sometimes it doesn’t feel subtle enough, sometimes it’s too muddy. There’s “color theory” which sounds scientific but turns out is a little squishy.
In this fun and approachable class we will debunk persistent color myths, explore the science of color, really learn to understand color and apply it in our work.
This course has five main sections, with slide talks, exercises and demos. We go into materials, the science of color, how to get great color, light effect, composing with color and MUCH MORE.
This NOT a sip and paint! This is a serious, thought provoking, “AHA” moment-filled exploration of visual science, art history, materials and creativity. This is the rich, deep stuff you’ll apply in your artistic practice for the rest of your life!
The lessons and exercises can be applied in any material and style. All experience levels are welcome – if you would like to have more confidence using color in your art, this class is for you!
Join us for a free Introduction to the class, Sarah will share a slide talk with an overview of what will be covered and some of the exercises included. Sarah will discuss options for materials so artists can be prepared to work in the media of their choice. Get all your questions answered and get excited for a great series!
Registration is $265 (discounts available depending on membership level).
